We are an order of Roman Catholic Priests, Brothers and MSC Laities founded by Fr. Jules Chevalier in 1854 in Issoudun, France. Our order is based on the spirituality of the Sacred Heart, focusing on building healthy relationships with God, self, and others. We believe that encountering God can transform lives and heal relationships. Our founder, Fr. Chevalier gave the MSC the motto "May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be loved everywhere". Today, we also follow a mission statement, "We love as Jesus loved.”
The spirit of our Congregation is made of love and kindness, humility and simplicity;
but above all, it is a spirit of love for justice and concern for the welfare of all, specially the poorest ones.
Through the Spirituality of the Heart, we work to serve the global community and to help others experience God’s transforming love by
All MSC have different roles in our order. Some of our members serve parishes, hospitals, and prisons. Others conduct special retreat programs. Still others proclaim and live the compassion of the Sacred Heart by going to our missions overseas, most of which are in poor and developing nations.
